ATV Laws
Be Sure You're Legal Before You Ride

Another question that gets asked regularly involves ATV Laws across the country.

For that reason, I have assembled this page where you can get all of those type questions answered, which include:

  • Do I have to register my ATV?
  • If I do, how and where do I do that?
  • Do I need to complete an ATV Safety Course?
  • What are the requirements for youth to ride ATVs in my state?

So, like I said, I have searched the internet far and wide, and have assembled the answers to all of your questions about ATV rules and laws. Simply scroll down the links below, there is one for each state, and the District of Columbia, and when you click, a new window will open.

On that page you will all of the pertinent info for that state, regarding their ATV requirements. You will quickly find our who is in charge of registering your ATV, what the process is, is ATV insurance required, and all the details about the helmet laws.

Please keep in mind that the laws for riding on private property are often slightly different than riding on say BLM land, or National Forests, or Trail systems. Always check with the appropriate agency that is managing the area, to make sure your ride doesn't get spoiled by a citation, or worse, the impounding of your ATVs.
